Course Description:
This course serves as a foundational entry into the sciences of Prophetic Tradition (ʿUlūm al-Ḥadīth), utilizing two primary texts to balance theory and application. Guided by Farhan Zubairi’s Introduction to Hadith Studies, students will explore the historical and theoretical framework of how Ḥadīth was preserved, moving from the era of the Companions to the canonization of the Six Books. Simultaneously, students will apply these concepts through the study of Zād al-Ṭālibīn by Mawlana Ashiq Ilahi al-Bulandshahrī, engaging directly with short, aphoristic narrations to develop translation skills and an appreciation for Prophetic eloquence (Jawāmiʿ al-Kalim).
